Hello and Welcome
My name is Maryann and I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor and Psychotherapist, offering a warm, compassionate, safe and inclusive therapeutic environment, where you are able to explore without fear of judgement, the difficulties you are experiencing.
During the pandemic I am currently providing counselling and psychotherapy over Zoom webcam and the telephone, and understand that this may not be the preferred choice during this difficult time. I would like to offer reassurance that I have been specifically trained by the Online Counselling Training Services (OCST) a BACP recognised organisation, to provide this service and I use Zoom because it is fully end to end encrypted and secure.
I have two private practices, one based in Bournemouth and the other based in Parkstone Poole. Both are within easy reach of surrounding areas and on road and off road parking is available.
I also provide webcam counselling using Zoom, telephone counselling, or home visit counselling for those who are home bound
There are times when many of us feel we could benefit from emotional support and although making that first step to see a counsellor can take tremendous courage, it is a really positive step, as talking in confidence to a professional counsellor can help bring healing and clarity, and give you much needed support during a painful or anxious time in your life.
Counselling can also enable you to gain personal insight and awareness and this can lead to improved self esteem and assist you in developing a sense of positivity and optimism.
How Will Counselling Help?
Sometimes life will throw up unexpected challenges that seem impossible to cope with. Perhaps something specific is troubling you, or you have experienced a loss or separation that you are finding difficult to come to terms with. A painful memory from your past may affect the way you live your life or relate to others and you feel now is the time to receive counselling, to help put the past behind you.
Other reasons might be because you have a decision to make, or you are experiencing anxiety or depression. Perhaps you or someone close to you is struggling with substance misuse or you are going through difficulties at work.
Whatever brings you to therapy, counselling can help you make sense of your emotions and responses and empower you to make changes in your life. It facilitates the freedom to talk openly and confidentially, in a place where you will be really listened to. Counselling will give you the time and space to explore your thoughts and feelings, without fear of criticism or judgement in a safe, supportive, inclusive, emphatic and caring environment.
